From: Limits to the strain engineering of layered square-planar nickelate thin films
Lattice fringe strain maps highlighting the characteristic formation of horizontal and vertical rock salt layers in (a) Nd4Ni3O10/LaAlO3 (001), (b) Nd4Ni3O10/NdGaO3 (110), and (c) Nd4Ni3O10/SrTiO3 (001) films. The number line depicts the in-plane lattice constant of Nd4Ni3O10 in black and the corresponding strain states on LaAlO3 in yellow, NdGaO3 in blue, and SrTiO3 in red. More details of the analysis are provided in Methods. Raw STEM data and strain map outputs are shown in Supplementary Fig. S26.
