a The amounts of products generated in photocatalytic benzene oxidation by bare P25 and different Pd decorated P25 in 2-h in either CH3CN or H2O solution. b Comparison of the activity of Pd, Cu or bimetallic Pd–Cu decorated P25. c Optimisation of the Pd to Cu ratio, the amounts of the products were the average of six runs and the error bars were the standard deviation of six measurements (the detailed values are shown in Supplementary Table 2). d Phenol generation rate over Pd0.006Cu0.002/P25 (the sample with the highest TOF) and Pd1.25Cu0.016/P25 (the sample with the highest phenol yield) in the four-phase system. Reaction conditions: 30 mg photocatalysts, 10 ml water (except in the first column of (A) 10 ml CH3CN was used as the solvent for one control experiment), 20 ml benzene, pH = 2 adjusted by H3PO4, 365 nm LED irradiation and operated at 25 °C. Herein all cocatalyst concentration was analysed by ICP-AES.
