a, KPFM potential profile with the oscillation amplitude of 20 nm for a ___domain size of 100 nm. The thickness of the top hBN is z = 13 nm, and tip-to-sample distance is,  zlift= 1 nm. The measurements were performed by a supersharp diamond-like carbon tip with a radius of 1 nm. b, KPFM potential profile with the oscillation amplitude of 10 nm for the same ___domain. c, Summary of modulation potential depth ΔVS as a function of the oscillation amplitude. The red solid lines represent sinusoidal fitting. As reducing the oscillation amplitude, noise becomes substantial however the potential depth is invariant. With the oscillation amplitude of 5 nm, the data is too noisy so it is not meaningful to extract the potential value. Error bars represent the root mean square error from the sinusoidal fitting to KPFM measurements.
