Extended Data Table 3 Treatment effects on total exposure, total engagement, engagement rate, and attitudes

From: Like-minded sources on Facebook are prevalent but not polarizing

  1. Average treatment effects of reducing exposure to like-minded sources in the Facebook Feed from September 24–December 23, 2020. OLS estimates of sample average treatment effects (SATE) or population average treatment effects using survey weights (PATE) with HC2 robust standard errors. The last two columns report unadjusted and adjusted values for a two-sided t-test for the null hypothesis of no difference between treatment and control groups on each metric. Exposure and engagement outcome measures were measured using Feed behavior by participants. Survey outcome measures are standardized scales averaged across surveys conducted November 4–18, 2020 and/or December 9–23, 2020.
