Far fewer observations are needed to detect kin-biased helping than to detect reciprocal helping, despite kinship having a smaller effect size. Means and 95% credible intervals for the effect of kinship (black) and the effect of reciprocal help (grey) on helping rates estimated for subsamples of the total dataset increasing in size from 1 to 40 breeding seasons.
