IR Production flowchart. Input data streams are the Level 1b (L1b) satellite imagery (calibrated and geo-located radiances or brightness temperatures), and atmospheric reanalysis (referred to here to as Numerical Weather Prediction – NWP) data. Outputs are SSTs and uncertainties at the same pixel resolution as the input imagery (L2P); averaged onto a 0.05 latitude-longitude grid (L3U, one file per input L1b); collated to single-sensor daily files (L3C); and a multi-sensor gap-filled daily analysis (L4).
