From: Leukocyte telomere length and diet in the apparently healthy, middle-aged Asklepios population

Boxplots illustrating shorter LTL (adjusted for sex, age and paternal age; in kbp, kilo base pairs) in subjects with higher daily intake of deep fried potato products (in quartiles) (*indicates P < 0.05; **indicates P < 0.005 compared to reference/first quartile). The average adjusted LTL per quartile (±standard error of the mean; in kbp) was resp. 7.94 ± 0.03 (Q1), 7.91 ± 0.03 (Q2), 7.86 ± 0.02 (Q3), 7.79 ± 0.03 (Q4). Each individual boxplot summarizes the data by depicting median, upper and lower quartile of the data (horizontal lines of the “box”) as well as the variability of data points up to 1.5 interquartile ranges outside of the upper and lower quartiles (vertical whiskers) and beyond (outliers, circles).
