Ghrelin attenuates the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines in an OXA-induced contact dermatitis mouse model. (A–F) The levels of IL-1β, IL-6, iNOS, COX-2, TNF-α and MMP-3 were dramatically decreased upon treatment with ghrelin, as shown by real-time PCR. (G) iNOS expression was downregulated in mice treated with ghrelin in OXA-induced contact dermatitis, as shown by immunohistochemistry. (H,I) The protein levels of iNOS and COX-2 were markedly inhibited with ghrelin treatment, as shown by western blotting. (J,K) IL-1β and IL-6 were detected in mouse serum, indicating the ghrelin-mediated reduction in inflammatory cytokines in serum, as shown by ELISA.
