Comparison of responders and non-responders of the hemodialysis and control cohort with systemic cytokine values. Healthy controls and hemodialysis patients were divide into non-responders or responders as described in Fig. 1 and the correlation to systemic cytokine values determined. Data are presented as a heat map, see scale below. Blue represents a negative correlation, whereas red indicates a positive correlation coefficient. Correlation of cytokine/chemokine concentrations was performed by calculating Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients. Levels of significance are provided (Spearman rho analysis; bold p < 0.05; bold and italic: p < 0.005; bold, italic, underlined: p < 0.05 following Bonferroni correction).
