  1. Mice were injected in the flank with Dih10 hepatoma cells, and received either normal rodent chow (Control) or three cycles of lysine-deficient chow (Lys-) for 5 days followed by 3 days of normal chow as depicted in Fig. 4A. Some animals on either normal chow or lysine-deficient chow received one injection of cisplatin (CDDP). At the end of the third cycle of the lysine-deficient diet, the animals were euthanized, and blood was obtained by cardiac puncture. Amino acids in the serum were measured by high performance liquid chromatography coupled to post-column derivitization with ninhydrin. Data are mean values from five animals in each group; *** = p < 0.001 compared to control animals.
