(A) Correlation plot showing platelet mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) with change in oxygen consumption rate (mitochondrial respiration) measured by Seahorse extracellular flux analyzer after ex vivo stimulation with thrombin (TRAP 50 μM). mtDNA was normalized using inverse rank-based transformation and Pearson’s correlation coefficient is shown. (B) mtDNA in platelets vs basal OCR in pmol/min (an average of first three measurements). OCR was measured in triplo and for 5 PLHIV and 2 controls both mtDNA in platelets and real-time measurements of mitochondrial respiration were available and included in the analysis.
