Time line of this study. The rats are received in the training session as the passive-avoidance (PA) test (Day -1) and are measured without foot-shocks 24 h later (Day 0). Then, rats are exposed to CO, and the latencies are measured at days 3, 7, 14, and 21 after exposure. The analyses of immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and quantitative reverse transcription-PCR are performed on day 21 after CO poisoning. This figure was created with BioRender.com.
