Basic property tests for guidewires (Left to right; A to D). (A) A universal testing machine (LS1; LLOYD instrument Ltd., West Sussex, England) for the tip load, tip friction, bending test. (B) Tip Friction test jig: Dipping a silicon pad and wire in a bath, compressing the silicone pad with the wire at a pressure of 3 Bar, and then stretching them by 20 mm at a speed of 20 mm/min. (C) Tip load test jig: Compressing a wire by 2 mm at a speed of 5 mm/min over the silicone pad after fixing the part 10 mm away from the tip. (D) Bending Force test jig: Compressing a wire to 20 mm at a speed of 20 mm/min after extending the jig by 60 mm and fixing the wire.
