The relationship between SMC, SOC, SMDE, SOCSE and RDWD in the apple orchard varies with soil depth. (*p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001; ****p < 0.0001). The SMC, SOC, SMDE, SOCSE and RDWD represent soil moisture content, soil organic carbon, soil moisture deficit effect, soil organic carbon sequestration effect and root dry weight density, respectively.
