Table 2 Post hoc pairwise comparisons for experiments A and C. Estimate mean difference compared to the control condition. Mean differences, confidence intervals, and P-values are estimated using the Sidak method for correction of multiple comparisons. Results show significant differences in both discomfort and flicker between all the light-based gamma stimuli (ISF, CF, and LF) and CON. Significant differences between the lowest levels of brightness (1) and the remaining levels (2 and 3) are also found for the perceived discomfort but not for the perceived flicker. Significant differences in both discomfort and flicker are also found between ISF and the two other light-based gamma stimuli (CF and LF). No significant interaction effect between stimulus and brightness was found for either perceived discomfort or flicker.

  1. Sidak method is used to estimate the Mean Difference (MD), 95% Confidence Interval (CI), P-value (P), and Effect size (d).
  2. Significance: *P < .05, **P < .01, ***P < .001. Entries marked with — are not tested within the family of hypotheses.
