The network was built using i) consensus sequences of genotypes identified in ticks and host individuals sampled in the Sénart Forest for this study (in blue) and ii) available ospC reference sequences for members of the Borrelia burgdorferi species complex (in red and gray). The capital letters reference individual ospC group described in previous studies18,22,25,26. All genotypes with the same prefix (e.g., G21) were empirically assigned to the same genotype group (GG) because of their close relationships. GGs that included strains isolated from humans are framed by a gray square framed by a grey square.
