microwave no heating fixed

microwave of 8-10 yrs quit heating. light on, turning is good. no error code.

googled and said, may not worth fixing, also capacitor high voltage danger.

first time to see inside a microwave. an’t find the capacitor, the bulky bottle that stores ‘juice’ while off power. took days in finally ditching locating the capacitor. did find the thing called magnetron, core component heating foods. took some effort in de-energize it. took out and saw the cracked magnet, that’s why it ain’t working. this is it, not the fuse.

was very excited when parts arrived. put the exact replacement of ~$30 in, and reset. ain’t see the correct reset. heat a cup of water, a few seconds later, it quit, same error code h97.

now what, inverter bad?

second morning, tried again resetting it, somehow got to the “end” screen, whew, talking about instruction and following the steps. I believe the unit is slightly different, somehow the 10th attempt cut the short.

turned on the unit and heated for 2 minutes, it went dark, it blew the fuse of the circuit. ok, 18 amp blew a circuit in garage probably exceeded the limit.

moved the unit back to kitchen and tested heating water for 2 minutes, YAY, hot water.

glad $30 fixed it, learned something and saved a bit for the dump.
