The magnetic field lines that intersect the spacecraft (red and blue dots) at one ___location are shown with the rainbow-shaded lines. From 08:00–20:00 on Sept 7, MMS is moving inbound in the central plasma sheet from about X = −14 RE to X = −6 RE, while Arase orbits in the inner magnetosphere, inside 6 RE. From 1:00–8:00 UT on Sept 8, MMS moves duskward, towards the boundary layer and magnetosheath.
