Textures in pure Ar from bidimensional X-ray diffraction images collected in run 1. At 1.48 GPa, Ar grows as a few single crystals from the melt. Evidences of non-hydrostatic compression—a broadening of single crystal XRD peaks—appear around 2.4 GPa. Stacking faults give rise to a structured diffuse signal above 1.9 GPa, which progressively transforms into (100) (labelled H(10.0)) and (101) hcp XRD peaks.
