For the LA-MC-ICP-MS profiles the black line corresponds to the running average (± running standard deviation), based on a 20 samples window. The x-axis corresponds to the ___location of the LA-MC-ICP-MS samples from the enamel-root junction. Solution sample locations were adjusted to LA-MC-IPC-MS profiles only to facilitate visual comparison. Solution and LA-MC-ICP-MS values at a given ___location should not be directly compared as the two analyses were performed on opposite tooth surfaces or mirroring teeth.
