From: Aphid cluster recognition and detection in the wild using deep learning models
A classic detection model with Feature Pyramid Networks (FPN). The backbone is utilized as the feature extractor that acquires the semantic information from the information. FPN propagates the semantic information from the deeper layers to the shallower layers so that all features in FPN could have enough semantic information. The head generates the predictions from the various features from FPN.
