Bars show values for FIFO (fish in: fish out) and forage fish dependency ratio (FFDR), for fish meal and fish oil separately and combined. FIFO is the amount of wild fish used in feed for production of one kg of farmed salmon. FFDR is equivalent to FIFO, but for fish meal and fish oil produced from whole forage fish only. These metrics involve ‘double counting’ of feed resources, assuming fishmeal and fish oil were generated separately.
