News and Views Student Editor
News & Views Role – Brief Overview - This is an unpaid, student position. We are looking for active students.
- Scheduled Catch-Up Meetings
- Hold update meetings on News & Views article development progress: approximately every 2 weeks, subject to change based on project load/activity and timeline needs
- Manuscript Review & Evaluation
- Review submitted npj Digital Medicine manuscripts from Dr. Kvedar
- Identify and flag interesting submissions, share manuscript evaluations with team
- Topic Ideation & Identification
- Contribute topic ideas to shared spreadsheet.
- Suggest macro themes/topics and targeted areas of interest.
- Identify relevant manuscripts for potential News & Views articles
- Article Writing & Drafting
- Assist with writing/drafting articles alongside reviewers
- Write de novo articles based on gaps in published articles/areas of new research/interest
- Engagement with Reviewers
- Proactively reach out as needed to reviewers/associate editors for potential topics or manuscripts of interest
- Internal Review
- Assist with internal review of npj Digital Medicine News & Views content, evaluating article drafts for clarity, relevance, and alignment with journal scope
- Trend Identification & Strategic Planning
- Meet with Communications Fellow/Communications Editor to discuss emerging trends and opportunities for future submission alignment
