Spermidine mediates acetylhypusination of RIPK1 to suppress diabetes onset and progression

Zhang et al. show that the activation of RIPK1 is suppressed by acetylhypusination in a spermidine-dependent manner. Disruption of this axis contributes to RIPK1-mediated vascular pathology to promote insulin resistance and diabetic kidney pathology.

Stabilizing the excited states of organic phosphorescent photosensitizers via self-assembly for CO₂ photoreduction

To overcome low intersystem crossing efficiency and exciton instability in organic photosensitizers, amphiphilic polymer hosts self-assemble phosphorescent molecules. This stabilizes triplet states, enabling efficient CO₂ photoreduction to CO.

A great challenge for electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction is to improve energy efficiency. Here, the authors demonstrate that a hybrid electrocatalyst consisting of Fe nanoparticles, pyrrole-type Fe-N₄ sites and less-oxygenated carbon supports could achieve energy-efficient electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction to carbon monoxide.

Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) fluorescence probes are indispensable for biomedical imaging, however, interference with tissue autofluorescence results in low signal-to-noise ratio limiting the development of bioimaging with AIE materials. Here the authors develop AIEgen room-temperature phosphors with long emission lifetimes efficiently eliminating intereference with the background signal in imaging.

NF-κB-induced microRNA-31 promotes epidermal hyperplasia by repressing protein phosphatase 6 in psoriasis

Psoriasis is accompanied by NF-κB activation and hyperplasia. Here the authors show that NF-κB transcriptionally activates miR-31, which downregulates a negative cell cycle regulator protein phosphatase 6, and that this is critical for NF-κB to drive keratinocyte hyperproliferation.
