Psychological stress-induced ALKBH5 deficiency promotes tumour innervation and pancreatic cancer via extracellular vesicle transfer of RNA

Chen, Zhou, Xue et al. show that psychological stress leads to noradrenaline release and Alkbh5 downregulation, causing the transfer of extracellular vesicles containing m⁶A-modified RNAs to neurons to regulate innervation and pancreatic cancer development.

Joint analysis of three genome-wide association studies of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Chinese populations

Dongxin Lin, Philip Taylor, Li-Dong Wang and colleagues have now pooled three genome-wide association analyses of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, finding two new risk loci at genome-wide significance and an HLA class II locus of significance in high-risk populations. Super-enhancer RNA m⁶A promotes local chromatin accessibility and oncogene transcription in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

In pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma, super-enhancer RNAs (seRNAs) have higher N⁶-methyladenosine (m⁶A) levels than in adjacent normal tissue due to upregulation of the METTL3 cofactor CFL1. Aberrant m⁶A seRNAs promote oncogene expression via the YTHDC2–MLL1 complex.
