Flat bands are dispersionless band structures where the strength of electron-electron interactions increases giving rise to phenomena that cannot be described using theories based on weakly interacting electrons. Here, the authors use many-body calculations to show that Nb3Cl8 exhibits a correlated flat-band state and could potentially house a molecular quantum spin liquid phase.
