Direct fabrication of metavanadate phosphor films on organic substrates for white-light-emitting devices

In solid-state lighting, phosphors are typically used to complement the blue light of the original emitter to achieve white-light emission. The capability to deposit certain phosphors at much lower temperatures than previously enables their use on organic substrates and opens the door to fabricate large-area white-light emitters.

Observation of naturally canalized phonon polaritons in LiV₂O₅ thin layers

Canalized polaritons are light-matter excitations characterized by intrinsic collimation of electromagnetic energy along a specific crystal axis. Here, the authors report the observation of intrinsically canalized phonon polaritons in a single thin layer of a van der Waals crystal, LiV₂O₅.

Disentangling the effects of structure and lone-pair electrons in the lattice dynamics of halide perovskites

By comparing CsSrBr3 and CsPbBr3 with close structural similarity but the latter lacking lone-pair electrons on the octahedral metal, the authors reveal the similar vibrational anharmonicities in the two perovskites, which disentangles the electronic properties and vibrational anharmonicities.

Direct visualization of stacking-selective self-intercalation in epitaxial Nb_1+xSe₂ films

The interplay between stacking configurations and atom intercalation in van der Waals materials has been rarely characterized at the microscopic level. Here, the authors report an electron microscopy study of stacking-selective self-intercalation in Nb_1+xSe₂ films, showing potential for nanoscale engineering of electronic properties in van der Waals materials and devices.

Charge-entropy-stabilized selenide Ag_xSn_1−xSe

High-entropy alloys are interesting as they enable the stabilization of high-symmetry phases, giving rise to unique emerging properties. Here, selenium fluctuations in (Ag,Sn)Se are investigated, revealing their role in promoting superconductivity and stabilizing the cubic rocksalt structure.
