Compression-dependent microtubule reinforcement enables cells to navigate confined environments

Ju et al. show that during three-dimensional cell migration, compression recruits cytoplasmic linker-associated proteins to microtubules; these stabilized microtubules then coordinate nuclear positioning and contractility in confined migration.

Neuropeptide Y signalling in the periphery contributes to the regulation of metabolic and energy homeostasis. A first-in-class pan-lysyl oxidase inhibitor impairs stromal remodeling and enhances gemcitabine response and survival in pancreatic cancer

Cox and colleagues develop PXS-5505, a first-in-class selective pan-lysyl oxidase inhibitor and show that it reduces chemotherapy-induced desmoplasia and stiffness, thereby improving chemotherapy response and survival in pancreatic cancer models.

Temporal profiling of the breast tumour microenvironment reveals collagen XII as a driver of metastasis

The distribution and organisation of matrix molecules in the tumour stroma help shape solid tumour progression. Here they perform temporal proteomic profiling of the matrisome during breast cancer progression and show that collagen XII secreted from CAFs provides a pro-invasive microenvironment.

To replicate in Huh7 hepatoma cells, HCV must acquire mutations that prevent PI4KA over-activation. PI4KA-specific inhibitors promote replication of unadapted viral isolates and allow replication of patient-derived virus in cell culture.
