Promyelocytic leukemia protein (PML) is a scaffolding protein that organizes PML nuclear bodies. Here the authors present the tetrameric crystal structure of the PML RING ___domain and show that RING tetramerization is functionally important for nuclear body formation and PML sumoylation.
