It is essential to have a short contact time for self-cleaning, anti-icing, anti-fog, heat transfer, droplet manipulation, and energy harvesting. In this study, the authors discuss the extremely quick bounce seen when droplets containing a particle impact a surface, achieving a contact time of only 0.3 milliseconds with an elastic particle and 0.05 milliseconds with a rigid particle.
