An analysis of the rate at which isotherms are shifting in mountain regions worldwide identifies 17 key regions with particularly high vertical isotherm shift velocities, and provides insight into how these shifts affect species ranges.

A global phylogeny of butterflies reveals their evolutionary history, ancestral hosts and biogeographic origins

A new phylogenomic tree for butterflies is constructed using 391 genes from 2,300 species, representing 92% of genera. It suggests that butterflies originated around 100 million years ago in what is now the Americas and originally fed on Fabaceae.

Genome maps across 26 human populations reveal population-specific patterns of structural variation

Large structural variants (SV) are understudied in human genetics research because of the difficulty to detect them in the routinely generated short-read sequencing data. Here, the authors generate optical genome maps of 154 individuals from 26 populations that allow comprehensive examination of large SVs.
