H2A.Z facilitates licensing and activation of early replication origins

DNA replication in eukaryotes requires the histone variant H2A.Z, which binds the enzyme SUV420H1 to promote the dimethylation of histone H4, in turn recruiting the origin-recognition complex to activate early replication origins.

H4S47 O-GlcNAcylation regulates the activation of mammalian replication origins

Here, using proteomics, molecular biology and sequencing, the authors demonstrate that OGT-dependent O-GlcNAcylation of H4S47 is important for replication-origin activation, presumably through regulating DDK-induced phosphorylation of the MCM complex.

Lgr5+ stem cells in intestinal crypts are critical for gut epithelium homeostasis.
