Claire Stevens CBE reflects on the recent debate about women in dentistry and her own lived experiences

Last month I read an article that referred to the only female CEO of the British Dental Association (and an acting one at that) as someone who 'filled the gap' between two male CEOs.1 It got me thinking about my first clinical year at dental school. It was here I was told by one of my tutors that I was a perfect example of why women should not be in dentistry.
