Kathryn Pitters, a Barrister Associate with Irwin Mitchell, one of a panel of law firms supporting members with BDA Indemnity, reflects on a recent GDC case.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines 'Banter' as 'Noun: the playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks' and 'Verb: exchange remarks in a good-humoured teasing way', it goes on to provide an example, 'the men bantered with the waitresses'.1 What the Dictionary does not do is to draw the boundary between what is simply playful and what is sexual harassment. That is the job of the regulator and the Courts.
