In the version of this Article originally published, in Fig. 1, compounds PUMB and PCPT, Supplementary Fig. 12, and Supplementary Schemes 1 and 4–6, the structures of ‘POEGMEA’ and ‘vancomycin’ were incorrect. In all of these, the brackets labelled ‘m’ appeared in the wrong positions for POEGMEA and the stereochemistry in the sugar ring of vancomycin was incorrect. These errors have now been corrected.
