Lévy walks, accompanied by heavy-tailed step distributions, are observed in diverse systems. Through simulations of high-energy heavy-ion collisions and comparisons to experimental data, the authors show that the pion spatial freeze-out distributions are describable by three-dimensional Lévy-stable distributions, hence supporting the appearance of Lévy walks in another area of Nature.
