  • The generation of spatiotemporal optical vortices in the extreme-ultraviolet regime is demonstrated via high harmonic generation. Topologically coupled at the nanometre and attosecond domains, these light beams are attractive for exploring electronic dynamics in magnetic materials, chiral media and nanostructures.

  • Simultaneous spin and orbital angular momentum conservation enables control over the divergence and polarization of EUV vortex beams, paving the way to ultrafast studies of chiral systems using high-harmonic beams with designer spin and orbital angular momentum.

  • Circularly polarized isolated extreme-ultraviolet pulses are generated by exploiting non-collinear high- harmonic generation driven by two counter-rotating few-cycle laser beams. The numerical simulation predicts a linear chirp of 330 attoseconds.

  • Harmonics produced when structured lasers hit isotropic targets inherit the topological properties of the driver, but such properties become more complex in the case of anisotropic nonlinear targets. The authors exploit topological analysis of the high-order harmonics to spatially resolve the information about the nonlinear response of the target.
