Basal-shift transformation leads to EGFR therapy-resistance in human lung adenocarcinoma

Resistance to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) is prevalent. Here the authors establish a biobank of patient-derived EGFR-mutant lung cancer organoids and identify a subgroup of EGFR-TKI-resistant lung adenocarcinoma organoids, which exhibit a basal-shift phenotype and vulnerability to CDK4/6 inhibitors.

A Rho-actin signaling pathway shapes cell wall boundaries in Arabidopsis xylem vessels

Cell wall pits allow movement of water between xylem vessels and are formed via Rho-GTPase mediated signaling that leads to local microtubule disassembly. Here, Sugiyama et al. show that an additional Rho-GTPase pathway controls cell wall deposition and actin dynamics to form pit boundaries.

TAG-1–assisted progenitor elongation streamlines nuclear migration to optimize subapical crowding

The authors show that shortening of the basal process in neural progenitor cells by depletion of TAG-1 results in overcrowding in the periventricular space and, eventually, delamination and aberrant migration. These results suggest that one of the functions of interkinetic nuclear migration is to prevent progenitor congestion and mechanical stress.
