Among the most intriguing features of non-Hermitian systems is the prospect of having imaginary Fermi-Sea velocity. Here, the authors show that such imaginary velocities are closely related to the winding numbers in the path integral and can play a special role in driving and signaling the localization-to-delocalization transition of physical properties, even when the wavefunctions still exhibit some localization.
